Burger: Key Largo, FL
At a dive on the island constructed
from sheet metal that looks like it blew into a random heap
during the last hurricane the walls are covered with license
plates, presumably from the hundreds of customers who loved the
burgers so much that they abandoned their native states to spend
the rest of their lives in the Keys. This burger is served with
lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, and condiments on the side so
you can fix it your way.

Burgers at Dave &
Lisa’s Café drip with homemade hot sauce that will qualify
you as a flame swallower. I’ve lowered the heat just a bit
in my version. Topped with fresh roasted green chiles, salsa, and
jack cheese.

There are several
restaurants in the Abilene area that vie for the claim to the
world’s best steaks. All serve hunks of meat seasoned with
garlic and secret spices and grilled to perfection. After eating one of Mel's,
