About Our Peacocks Our
flock ranges in numbers from 12-20 birds. We have two varieties, Blues and
Whites. Among the blues, the males and females are differentiated by the neck
coloring and the train of "tail" feathers they proudly display during the months
of March to June. They also are quite vocal during those months. Females have
greenish brown necks and no train. Among the white birds, the hens are usually
slightly smaller. Our birds roam freely throughout the resort, and are friendly
to guests. We work very hard at keeping the flock healthy and happy, so the
number one rule at Arrowhead is no chasing the peacocks. Chasing or even
following is intimidating to the birds and could cause them to turn aggressive
or even leave the resort in search of a less stressful environment. We encourage
guests to feed the birds, but away from your doorstep or picnic table.
We sell numerous peacock souvenirs, including feathers in our gift shop and online. And don't forget to bring your camera! Listen to peacocks at Encarta.
